MFL Masterchef (In school competition)

In school, we received this piece of compulsory homework from the MFL (Modern Foreign Language) department and the Food and Nutrition department.

The homework was to cook/bake something from one of the countries of the language you study, take photos of it  fill in a sheet in the language of your country's dish and submit it in the MFL department folder. The homework was called the School masterchef Application.

The dish you choose to make must be from a country which speaks a language you study in school.
The languages vary in each form, in year 7-9 you study two languages from a list of Spanish, French and German. You are assigned you language at the start of high school. In year 10, you pick a language to study for GCSEs. Right now, I study French and Spanish and I picked Spanish for GCSE.

I chose to make French Entrements. Specifically, I made a chocolate mousse with a mango jelly insert and a joconde sponge base, then I covered it with a galaxy mirror glaze.

On the day before the competition, I practiced and I realised I needed a better, tastier glaze so I changed the recipe to a milk chocolate mirror glaze and it tasted way better and it looked fancier too!

We had 1hr and 40mins to make our dish. The other dished were really good and they were of high standard, it smelled amazing in the kitchen.

The year 10 language ambassadors came to judge our food and all of them looked super delicious! In the end, joint 3rd was a dish of spaghetti Alfredo with chicken and mushroom and another dish of an amazing doner kebab. 2nd place went to a person who made brioche rolls with 2 kinds of butter (very fancy...). In first place, was.............me!
I was overjoyed and I felt super proud of the dish I made! I really felt I demonstrated my skills and I was happy I managed to present it OK as well.

(I blurred out the other contestants for privacy)

The prize was a lovely apron with the masterchef logo on it!

That's it for now, have a lovely summer!
Bye 👋
